We process personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act, 2022 (Tanzania) and, where applicable, other relevant data protection laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where its territorial scope applies.

3. Visiting our website

When you visit our website, technically necessary information may be processed to provide, secure and maintain the website.

4. Website platform and hosting – Wix

Our website is operated using Wix.com.

5. Cookie and consent management – Usercentrics

We use Usercentrics as our cookie and consent management solution, integrated through Wix.

Usercentrics helps us obtain, manage and document consent for non-essential cookies and tracking technologies.

Your choices are respected according to the settings available in our consent banner. You may change or withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future through the privacy settings available on our website.

6. Google Tag Manager

We use Google Tag Manager, provided by Google Ireland Limited and/or Google LLC.

Google Tag Manager is used to technically manage and deploy website tags. It serves as a management layer for services used on our website, including Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity.

The relevant tracking technologies are activated in accordance with our consent configuration and, where required, only after your consent has been obtained.

7. Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), a web analytics service provided by Google.

GA4 helps us understand how visitors use our website, including which pages are visited and how visitors interact with the website. We use this information to analyse and improve our website.

Google Analytics is used only after the relevant consent has been provided through our consent banner.

We have not enabled Google Signals. We have also not connected Google Analytics to Google Ads and do not use Google Ads remarketing through this website.

Google explains that websites using Google services may transmit certain information to Google, including the URL of the page visited and technical information.

For users in the EU, EEA, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, Google states that IP addresses are not logged or stored in Google Analytics.

8. Microsoft Clarity

We use Microsoft Clarity to analyse how visitors use and interact with our website.

Clarity may provide:

  • heatmaps,

  • session recordings,

  • click analysis,

  • scroll and mouse-movement analysis,

  • analysis of certain interactions and page views.

 

Microsoft describes Clarity as a behavioural analytics service that captures user interactions and information used for session playback. Sensitive content is masked by default, and input fields are automatically protected.

Clarity is used in accordance with our consent configuration. Microsoft provides a Consent Mode under which Clarity cookies are only set after a valid consent signal has been received.

Microsoft states that Clarity data is stored in Microsoft Azure and that Clarity data is available to the webmaster for up to 30 days.

9. Google Maps

We use Google Maps to provide an interactive map showing the location of our lodge.

When the service is activated or used, Google Maps may transmit information to Google, including technical information about your device and browser, your IP address and information concerning use of the map service.

Google Maps is configured as a non-essential third-party service and is not loaded before the relevant consent has been obtained.

10. YouTube

Our website contains embedded videos provided by YouTube.

YouTube is operated by Google. When an embedded video is loaded or played, information may be transmitted to Google/YouTube, including technical information and information about video usage.

The embedded YouTube content is configured as a non-essential third-party service and is loaded only after the relevant consent has been obtained.

For non-essential analytics and tracking technologies, we generally obtain prior consent.

12. International data transfers

As we are based in Tanzania and use service providers operating internationally, personal data may be processed or transferred outside Tanzania and/or outside the country in which you are located.

International transfers are carried out in accordance with applicable legal requirements. Tanzanian data protection law provides specific requirements and a permit/safeguard framework for certain transfers of personal data outside Tanzania.

Where the GDPR applies, transfers to third countries are carried out in accordance with the requirements of Articles 44 et seq. GDPR.

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the relevant purposes or as required by applicable law.

15. Automated decision-making

We do not use automated decision-making on this website that produces legal or similarly significant effects on individuals.

16. Children's privacy

Our website is intended for a general audience and is not specifically directed at children.

We do not knowingly intend to collect children's personal data through our analytics and tracking services. Microsoft also states that Clarity should not be used on websites targeting individuals under 18.

17. Changes to this Privacy Notice

We may update this Privacy Notice when our website, the services we use or applicable legal requirements change.
